McGill University is partnering with the MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program to offer undergraduate African students scholarships for over a period of 10 years and Scholarships will be available at the Master’s level.

McGill University has completed its graduate recruitment and in fall 2021 will be the final incoming class of MasterCard foundation scholars.

How to become a MasterCard Foundation Scholar.

Eligibility criteria:

  • For undergraduate degrees, candidates must be or under 29 years old at the time they apply.
  • Every Applicant must first meet the admission requirements of the partner university.
    For some partner universities, test like SAT, TOEFL or IELTS is part of the standard requirements for all International students.
    However, there are some Africa-based universities that do not require SAT or TOEFL scores.

2. Chevening Scholarship for Africans

In 2011-2012 there were over 700 Chevening Scholars studying at universities across the UK. The UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office Chevening Scholarship program was established in 1983 and is recognized internationally with over 41,000 alumni. Also, Chevening Scholarships are currently offered in about 110 countries and Chevening awards enable Scholars to study a one-year postgraduate Master’s course in any discipline at any UK university.

One of the Scholarships offered by Chevening to students from Africa is Chevening Africa Media Freedom Fellowship (CAMFF). The fellowship is an eight-week residential course to be delivered by the University of Westminster.

The fellowship is funded by the UK Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office.

  • Not hold British or Dual British Citizenship.

4. Oppenheimer Fund scholarships for South African Students at the University of Oxford

The Oppenheimer Fund Scholarships are open to applicants who are residents of South Africa and are applying to start any new degree-bearing course, with the exception of PGCert and PGDip courses, at the University of Oxford.

The Henry Oppenheimer Fund Scholarship is an award that serves to reward excellence and exceptional scholarship in all its forms to students from South Africa, which carries a momentary value of 2 million rands.

5. Ferguson Scholarships at SOAS University of London, UK for Students from Africa

The generosity of the Allan and Nesta Ferguson Charitable trust has established three Ferguson scholarships for African Students annually.

Each Ferguson Scholarship covers tuition fees in full and provides a maintenance grant, the total value of the scholarship is £30,555 and lasts for one year.

The Hungarian Government is offering a fully funded scholarship to South African students to study at public universities in Hungary.

Benefits:
The award is usually fully funded, including contributions for accommodation and medical insurance.

Eligibility:

  • must be below the age of 30 for undergraduate degrees
  • Be a South African citizen in good health.

The ACCA Africa Scholarship Scheme has been created to support the progression and career of academically excellent students in Africa, especially in these challenging times. The scheme is designed to motivate students to aim for higher performance in their exams and support them to pass using our available resources.

Selection Criteria:

To qualify for the ACCA Africa Scholarship Scheme, you must be an active student sitting for exams and score at least 75% in one of the last papers sat in the preceding exam session. Scholarships will be available for each paper that passed the qualifying criteria.
