1. Chinese Government Scholarship (CGS).

The CGS program is the best scholarship in China for international students and is offered by the Ministry of Education through the China Scholarship Council.

If offers two main types of scholarship; CGS Type A and CGS Type B.

• The CGS Type A program also known as the Bilateral program covers the tuition for a Chinese or English taught program, university accommodation, and medical insurance.

CGS Awardees are subject to an annual review. This is done before the funding release for the next school year.

2. Beijing Government Scholarship (BGS).

The BGS program covers full tuition for 1 year for Bachelor’s and Master’s students, full tuition for 3 years for PhD students at Beijing based universities only.

Those who have received any other type of scholarship will not be eligible for the BGS.

Ph.D students funded by the BFS program are subject to a comprehensive annual evaluation every April.

Receiving, reviewing and approving of Beijing Government Scholarship applications is done by the receiving university (the university you applied for).

Most of the universities that allows international students study in China without IELTS are on the list of Chinese universities recognized by National Bureau for Academic Accreditation and Education Quality Assurance of Kuwait, Internal Council for Higher Education Accreditation (ICHEA), and other accreditation agencies.

I. Entry requirements:
Applicants must be non-chinese citizens with proper moral conduct, in good health with no infections disease or any physical or mental diseases that may affect their normal study.

II. Academic requirements:

• Applicants for Chinese taught programs must have HSK certificate or must have received high school education in Chinese.
• Applicants for English taught programs don’t need to have HSK certificate or any Chinese language proficiency requirements. If Applicants native language is not English they should provide IELTS or any english language proficiency test.
• Applicants from English language speaking countries must provide evidence that previous education was in English.
• Applicants for;
  Undergraduate programs must have received high school education.
  Post graduate programs must have received undergraduate education or equivalent.
  Doctoral degree programs must have received education in postgraduate education or equivalent.

III. Documents for Application.

• Valid Foreign passport.
• Senior High school diploma.
• A recent passport sized photo of the applicants.
• Copy of Visa.
• Study Plan consisting of person information, education background, working experience, learning objectives and interested research areas.
• Two Recommendation letters from high school or university. Recommendation letter prepared by high school teacher, university professors or associate professors, directors of work or authorities.

What type of Visa do I need to study in China?.

You need a student visa to study in China. Student visa is of two types, depending on the length of your studies.

International students needs to apply for one of the following visas before they can study in China:

• X1 Visa: for students who plan to study in China  less than 6 months.
• X2 Visa: for students who plan to study in China for more than 6 months.

How to Apply for student visa for China.

• Citizens from the European Union and other countries like Australia, Canada and so on, can apply through the CVASC (Chinese VISA Application Service Center)
• If there’s no CVASC office in your home country, you can simply apply at the local Chinese embassy or consulate. Submit the application in person or with the help of a travel agency or a visa agency.

It’s advisable to apply for Visa , three months before you travel to China. It shouldn’t be more than three months.

You don’t need to be fluent in Chinese to study in China.

Can I work in China as an International Student?.

International students are allowed to take part-time jobs during their studies, or engage in paid internship, under the following conditions.

• You must obtain permission both from your host university and the Chinese Immigration authorities.
• The hiring company will also give out a certification.
• Your Visa must be marked “part-time work” by the police.
